I need to upgrade my version of InDesign in order to use the latest features of PrintUI. Can I use my files from the older version?
Yes, but for the most reliable conversions we suggest that you not open the legacy .indd directly in your new version of InDesign.
Instead we suggest exporting the files from their original versions as .inx (CS4 or earlier) or .idml (CS5 and later), then open that exported file in your new version of InDesign. Do a Save As to a new .indd file and you are ready to go. For safety, we suggest you choose a new file name to be sure you don't overwrite the older version of your file.
This suggestion is based on numerous reports of trouble from InDesign users around the world who have directly converted legacy files. Often the problems reported result in complete file loss or an inability to export to PDF. Please note that this is entirely an InDesign problem and has nothing at all to do with PrintUI.
