If you need the PDFs generated by PrintUI to contain crop marks, bleeds, specific color profiles, or other settings, the way you do that is with something called a "PDF preset." There are several PDF presets built into PrintUI:

High Quality Print
PDFX1a 2001
PDFX3 2002
PDFX4 2008
Press Quality
Smallest File Size

For an explanation of what each of these are, go to ... df_presets

But you can also upload your own PDF preset from Create the preset from within your desktop version of InDesign by going to File/Adobe PDF Presets. The resulting preset file has a file extension of .joboptions.

By the way, if you need to specify a color profile in your PDF preset, be sure that it is one that is on the PrintUI InDesign Server by looking at the list of built-in color profiles at If you need to use a color profile that isn't in the list, please contact PrintUI.

Once you've determined which PDF preset to use, you must specify it within PrintUI. If you are using EasyPrintUI or Magento, you can pick your preset from the settings page. If you are using PrintUI Professional, you specify the preset in the requestpdf API. We have found that it may take some time for the PDF preset to take effect on the PrintUI InDesign Server. So if it doesn't work right away, try again later.
